Mass. Sierra Club has joined a growing number of environmental and public interest groups from across the region asking our elected officials and regulators to take action concerning Pilgrim’s negative environmental impacts and public safety risks.

In its letter, Mass. Sierra Club points out:

1) Pilgrim’s once-through cooling system is outdated and harming Cape Cod Bay, and is operating under a 19-year expired permit.

2) Pilgrim’s design is the same failed Mark 1 type as Fukushima.

3) Massachusetts is a leader in reducing carbon emissions and increasing clean energy sources such as solar – a path we need to continue.
