Heather Lightner, President of Concerned Neighbors of Pilgrim, presented both articles at last night’s Plymouth Board of Selectmen meeting. Article 32 (to limit spent fuel at Pilgrim to only Pilgrim’s nuclear waste) passed unanimously. Article 33 (to ensure spent fuel is moved out of wet pool storage as quickly as possible) passed 4-1. This is a partial victory on the path to town meeting on April 5th – where the articles get the final vote.
The articles were also presented to the Plymouth Nuclear Matters Committee (NMC) the night prior, where both articles were debated at length by the Committee. In the end, the NMC decided to only support article #33.
Next up is presenting the articles to the Plymouth Finance and Advisory Committee on Feb. 12th at 7:00 pm (at Town Hall). Show your support and attend!
