The Department of Energy (DOE) is working to develop a solution to storage of nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste. It is developing a process to site facilities in collaboration with communities in the U.S., and earlier this year sought comments from the public on this “consent based” process.

Earlier this year, DOE requested public input on the process, and recently published a summary of all public input it received in an online report: ‘Designing a Consent-Based Siting Process: Summary of Public Input.’

DOE is accepting comments and input on the draft report until October 30, 2016.  DOE will consider all comments and issue a final summary report by December 2016.
