NRG issued the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for its proposed Unit 3 project at the Cape Cod Canal plant in Sandwich. In April, JRWA submitted comments on the draft report, outlining several concerns and questions with the report. These concerns and questions are addressed in section 9.2.7 of the FEIS.
For example, We asked the state’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to require further offsets of greenhouse gas emissions for the additional Unit 3 fossil fuel facility by requiring that the two obsolete units (Units 1 & 2) be taken offline to eliminate water use and impacts to marine life.
NRG replied to concern by saying that there will be “…no appreciable impacts to marine life will be associated with the Project.” — not really answering the question.
